Jan-Robert Baars, BSc, PhD

Jan Baars, a Dutch national, obtained his undergraduate BSc honours degree in entomology at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa in 1994. On graduation he worked as a Senior Research Technician with the Weeds Research Division of the Plant Protection Research Institute in Pretoria. He obtained his PhD degree in 2002. Since he became associated with AQUENS in 2002 he has been involved in river typology and biodiversity surveys in relation to intensive farming practices. His familiarity with macroinvertebrate, macrophyte and riparian vegetation enables him to effectively undertake ecological field assessments.

Jan's proactive work ethic and excellent communication skills ensure a high level of client support within AQUENS. Allied to his expertise in GIS and relational database management, his comprehensive field experience makes Jan Baars a valued member of the AQUENS team.
